Pet’s Import/Export in Pakistan

For the most people’s the transportation of much loved pets can be a worrying experience. There will be no quarantine imposed on your pet when entering Pakistan as long as the following requirements are met. Unless otherwise stated, the regulations below apply to domestic dogs and cats only. Owners of other pets should refer to item 8.

1. Pet Microchip
pet microchip Pakistan does not require that your pet be identified with a pet microchip, but it is recommended that you microchip your pet and register your contact information prior to traveling as a means of identification should your pet be lost or separated from you.

If your pet does not have a registered microchip, make sure your pets are wearing tags that identify them and have contact information for you.

2. Vaccinations

Pet dogs and cats must be vaccinated for rabies no sooner than 30 days and not more than 1 year prior to arrival.

A blood titer test is not required to enter Pakistan from any country.

4. Import Permit

Your cat or dog will be issued an import permit at the time of arrival to Pakistan.

5. Health Certificate

A veterinary health certificate for Pakistan must be completed. A USDA or CFIA licensed veterinarian completes the form and you have it endorsed by the USDA or CFIA if traveling from the United States or Canada. If you are traveling from another country, the Governing Authority in your country responsible for the import and export of animals should endorse the forms.

If your pet is entering Pakistan from BSE infected countries, such as the UK, Ireland, Belgium, Denmark, Falkland, France, Germany, Italy, Luxembourg, Holland, Spain, Brazil, Czech Republic, Austria, Poland, Slovakia, Slovenia, USA and Alberta Region of Canada, the National Veterinary Authority shall certify the BSE status of the country and the feeding of pets with meat, bone meal and greaves derived from BSE infected ruminants has been banned and effectively enforced.

6. Entering Pakistan by Air

Your pet may enter Pakistan at Jinnah International Airport at Karachi, Benazir Bhutto International Airport in Islamabad or Allama Iqbal International Airport in Lahore.

Whenever you travel to a foreign country like Pakistan, it is always advisable to carry some form of identification indicating ownership of your pet.

Failure to comply with these regulations will mean that your pet will be refused entry or returned to the country of origin or placed in quarantine, all at the expense of the person responsible for your pet.

7. Banned Breeds
Banned Dogs in Pakistan Pakistan does not publish a banned breed list, however, aggressive behavior is not tolerated. Visitors will be responsible for their pet’s behavior.

8. Other Animals

Invertebrates, tropical fish, reptiles, amphibia, mammals such as rodents are not subject to requirements of rabies vaccination, but may have to meet other requirements and should have a health certificate to enter Pakistan Pet owners are strongly advised to seek further information from the relevant authority of their country and/or that of the country of destination.

Pet birds from Vietnam, South Korea, Thailand, Japan, Indonesia, Myanmar, Cambodia, Laos, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Malaysia, South Africa, Russia, Kazakhstan, Mongolia, Turkey, Greece, Romania, Croatia, Iran, Italy Azerbaijan, Ukraine, Iraq, Bulgaria, Slovenia, France, Nigeria, Slovakia, Austria, Bosnia, Herzegovina, Germany, Afghanistan, Scotland – United Kingdom and China due to outbreaks of Avian Influenza H5N1 strain, is currently not permitted.

9. CITES

If your pet is not a dog, cat or ferret, and especially if it is a turtle or parrot, you should verify that it is not protected under the Convention on International Trade in Endangered Species of Wild Fauna and Flora (CITES). You will need to apply for additional permits if this is the case. Over 180 countries participate and enforce CITES regulations. .
